Healthy Chocolate Cake Recipe | Baking Happiness - The Healthy Way

We partnered with baking experts from Baking Bonheur to bring to you some really tasty cake recipes that will not let your diet get hampered in any way! Since baked foods have high levels of saturated fats and refined sugars, Baking Bonheur works on making the cakes and cookies more nutritious by keeping careful control over the ingredients and their proportions in the recipes! With a few tweaks and successfully experimented recipes, these baked goods can be enjoyed more often as a part of your balanced diet.
Healthy Baking Recipes: The Classic Chocolate Cake
Ingredients:
Raagi/Naachni flour – ¾ Cup
Wheat Flout – ¼ Cup
Cocoa Powder – 2 tablespoons
Baking Powder – 1 teaspoon
Baking Soda – ½ teaspoon
Milk – ¼ Cup
Vanilla Essence – ½ teaspoon
Curd – ½ Cup or 2 Eggs
Jaggery – 1 Cup
Butter – 100 gram or 4 tablespoon Oil
Method:
Mix the Raagi/Naachni flour, wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and baking soda, sieve and keep aside.
In a separate vessel, mix the milk, vanilla essence, curd/eggs, jaggery and butter, and beat till smooth. Here, you can use a whisk us a beater is not available.
Pre-heating: Pressure Cooker - Remove the whistle and heat for 10 minutes on a low flame. Remember to keep a plate up-side-down inside the pressure cooker to avoid direct contact of the mould and cooker.
Pre-heating: Oven- Heat the oven both ways at 180°C for 10 minutes.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet, in 3 parts, over 2-3 minutes using the cut-and-fold technique with a spatula
Once the batter is ready and smooth pour in the mould and get ready to bake!
Baking Time and Setting:
Pressure Cooker- Bake on a low flame for 25-30 minutes
Oven- 180°C – 200°C for 25-30 minutes with both way heating
And there you have a delicious classic chocolate cake, rich in fibre and calcium and low on gluten!
